Student Associations Collaboration Program

The Make Accounting Great Again Student Associations Collaboration Program is designed to build a global network of university and college accounting and business student associations to promote the profession, strengthen connections between campuses and create links between students and potential employers.

Through digital engagement and social media, the program enables students to share ideas, collaborate across borders, expand their networks and explore new career opportunities.

Giving Students a Stronger Voice in the Accounting Profession

At Make Accounting Great Again, we believe students and university student associations should have a meaningful voice in shaping the future of the accounting profession.

Through greater engagement with accounting firms, professional bodies and the wider profession, student associations can:

  • provide direct feedback on what attracts or discourages students from choosing accounting careers;
  • influence how the profession engages with the next generation, including recruitment, internships, graduate programs and alternative career pathways;
  • bring student perspectives on AI, technology, flexibility, workplace culture, salaries and career progression into industry discussions;
  • participate in industry forums, panels and consultations;
  • challenge outdated perceptions of accounting and help create a more relevant and compelling career proposition; and
  • collaborate across universities to build a stronger collective student voice.

Students are not just the future recruits of the accounting profession, they are its future leaders and should have a genuine voice in shaping its future direction.

About the Program

The Program provides a practical and flexible platform for students and student associations to engage with each other and the wider accounting profession through four initiatives:

  • Social Media & Content Collaboration
  • Student Ambassador Program
  • Cross-Campus Collaboration
  • Campus & Student Outreach

Participation is open, flexible and informal, with no membership, formal application or approval process. Students and associations can participate in any combination of initiatives that complement their interests, resources and existing activities, with no minimum level or frequency of involvement.

The success of the Program will depend heavily on student ideas, participation and feedback.

To help grow our international network, we encourage students to follow Make Accounting Great Again on LinkedIn and Instagram, engage with the campaign and take advantage of the opportunities and connections we create.

How We Support Participating Associations

Participating associations are welcome to use the “Make Accounting Great Again” campaign slogan and our resources for career events, student engagement and other activities.

As a global initiative, our support is primarily delivered remotely through our digital platform and international network. We can:

  • feature and link to participating associations on our dedicated webpage;
  • promote association events, activities and student-created content through our social media channels;
  • facilitate introductions to other student associations and industry professionals;
  • support cross-campus and international collaboration;
  • showcase student achievements, association successes and member stories to audiences beyond their own campus; and
  • provide a platform for student perspectives and ideas to reach the wider accounting profession.

In this way, the Program complements and strengthens activities associations are already undertaking, while helping them expand their reach, industry engagement and opportunities for their members.

Benefits for Students and Student Associations

Participation can help students and associations:

  • build their social media presence and professional profile, particularly on LinkedIn;
  • increase visibility with potential corporate sponsors and create sponsorship and funding opportunities;
  • connect with industry professionals, mentors, panellists and speakers;
  • develop communication, leadership, networking and content creation skills;
  • gain greater exposure to accounting career pathways; and
  • strengthen prospects for internships, graduate positions and future employment.

Overall, the Program provides students and student associations with a platform to build their profile, expand their networks, create career opportunities and have a stronger voice in the future of the accounting profession.

One Agenda: Elevating the Accounting Profession

This campaign is proudly independent, with no political affiliations, connections or agenda.

Our focus is simple: to champion the accounting profession, inspire and support the next generation, and shine a light on the vital contribution accountants make to business and society.

We encourage students and student associations from around the world to get involved, connect and collaborate in shaping a stronger future for the accounting profession.
